Hi all!
First off, we wanted to say thank you to all of you for the interest and support you have shown so far. We work very hard behind the scenes every week to get these episodes out, and it means a lot to know that there are people out there who care.
We wanted to make an announcement in regards to the episodes we’ve posted so far vs. the ones we’ll be posting moving forward.
Following a few discussions, we’ve come to the conclusion that Escorting Asako and The Red Foxes, while containing information and interactions that are relevant to the plot, are better categorized as a prologue rather than a true beginning to Shadows in the West. We’ll be going back through and adjusting the language throughout the site to make this clear. Both of these story arcs marked most of our players’ first venture into L5R; unfamiliarity with the setting, the mechanics, and our characters controlled the occurrences and outcomes of these more than anything else.
In our upcoming arc, A Lion Wedding, we begin to delve into the main storyline of Shadows in the West. It also marks the point at which most of the players really clicked with their characters. For these reasons, if you are new to Shadows in the West or haven’t had the chance to catch up, we recommend you start your reading at the beginning of A Lion Wedding. We’ll post synopses of our two prologue arcs for your reference, and any relevant information that isn’t covered by these can be found in the Characters and NPC pages.
